Shanghai Dumpling
April 26, 2008 · No Comments
I really love the Shanghai Dumpling (Xiao Long Bao) from this restaurant !!! They are hot, juicy and fresh !
The restaurant in Miami Beach Homes used to be called “Another One” but that restaurant moved to Fortress Hill, however the chef from “Another One” stayed and opened his own restaurant in the original location. So, basically the only thing changed is the name.

Dim Sum in a stylish way
April 26, 2008 · No Comments
Yummy dim sum plus a pot of hot Chinese tea = YUM CHA
“Yum Cha” plays an important role in Cantonese eating culture. It is for weekend family gathering, luncheon with co-workers, breakfast with friends after an overnight karaoke, YES, YUM CHA is a social activity more than just eating. Usually the restaurants for Yum Cha are very crowd and noisy.
This restaurant in Tai Hang is not noisy, not too crowd and stylish. Also the dim sum here is not in fusion style, tastes authentic just like in a normal Chinese restaurant (that is important !)

Chinese New Year Fireworks
February 8, 2008 · No Comments
There is always a great fireworks in Hong Kong on the second day of the Chinese New Year (年初二) at the Victoria Harbour.
This year (2008) the fireworks was particularly amazing. It lasted for more than 23 min, with 2008 Beijing Olympic theme, e.g. the fireworks showed Beijing Chinese characters (北京) and the number “2008″.
There were also many new creative fireworks shapes : flower, star, gold, number 8, etc.
There was also one looked like a slow motion snowflake. This fireworks (snowflake) with bright golden yellow color, was slowing falling from the sky to the sea. Very romantic.
One of the great things about living in Tin Hau is you can have a good spot for fireworks easily.

Dessert
February 4, 2008 · 1 Comment
On Electric Road No. 21, there is a dessert store. She is not selling traditional Chinese dessert (e.g. red bean soup, black sesame dessert) nor trendy creative dessert (durian sweet bean curd). According to my eating experience, I would say the desserts there should be origin from the late 90s.
1) Yeung-Chi-Kam-Lo

2) Hello

Tin Hau is a very convenient place.
From Tin Hau to HK station (in Central), taxi ride takes about 10 min (~ HKD 35)
Then you can check-in for your flight at the HK station (90min before your flight) and take the airport express right there straight to the airport !
There is discount for airport express ticket from 15 Dec 2007- 14 Dec 2008 !

Sunflower
January 15, 2008 · No Comments
During Chinese New Year, Chinese people like having colorful flowers decorate at home, 花開富貴 - wishing the beautiful flowers can bring good fortune for the New Year.
I like having flowers at home, it makes home more lively and cozy.
I got these sunflowers at the veggie + fruit + flower store (Whitfield Road)

Lovely !

Actually was planning to go to Tai Hang for Vietnamese pho noodle, while walking along Lau Sin Street, saw this Thai restaurant, not too crowded, so got in.
Bangkok Thai Restaurant (Lau Sin Street 1-5)

32) spicy and sour chicken soup with coconut milk
28) thai grapefruit salad with prawn
We ordered the above two items, the salad was so-so.
The soup was very yummy tho, highly recommended.
